What is Dermatoglyphics?

Dermatogloyphics USA Patent 2009Dermatoglyphics refers to the branch of science in the study of the patterns of skins (dermal) ridges present on the fingers, toes and the soles of human. Its reveals the congenital links between our fingers and our intrinsic qualities and talents.

It has come a long way since 1823. Based on studies, scientists found that fingerprints and human brain’s neocortex develop simultaneously. The humans fingerprints form from the 13th to 21st week.

The prints are dictated by chromosome genes and they have a high degree of stability that lasts a lifetime.

Medical experts and scientists thus discovered that the amount of brain cells distributed in different parts of the brain helps us understand a person’s multiple intelligences as well as his innate potential capabilities and personality.

4 Basic Types of Fingerprints
There are 4 basic types of prints on our fingers. Below are the samples of how each print looks. The characteristics mentioned are given with reference to the thumbs. So if you have such prints on your thumbs, this is how you think.

Whorl – Learning Based on Knowing
• More ego-centric, and tend to discover and comprehend things on their own.
• Goal-orientated and love to take on challenges if they think they are capable to do it.
• Very curious and like to ask “why”.
• More vocal in a group.

Ulnar Loop (away from thumb) – Learning Through Modelling
• Easily influenced by the environment.
• People-orientated, sensitive to other people’s feelings.
• Tend to model after their idols or fellow peers in a group.
• More sociable and make friends easily.

Radial Loop (towards thumb) – Learning Through Multiple Styles
• Has the same personality as Ulnar Loop but thinking model is reversed.
• Strive to be unique in their perspective and expression.
• Love to explore and very keen in observation.
• Usually, they are the one who will present a different suggestion or idea in a group.

Arch – Learning With Identified Talents
• Possess great potential and have high capacity to absorb what they have learnt.
• Conservative, dislike changes and prefer step-by step approach.
• Learn only what is expected of them and will not go beyond that.
• Process-orientated and need to know what methods to use before they proceed.
